We work with small groups of largely Pupil Premium children for an hour a week during term time in our partner schools, face-to-face or online. The online option means that volunteers can make a positive difference from their own home, while meeting people from all over the country and walks of life. We have volunteers aged 18 to 81 from a wide range of backgrounds; retired professionals, unemployed people looking for experience and training, prospective teachers or teaching assistants, stay at home parents and undergraduates. We have tutor induction sessions and socials and encourage interaction, teamwork and friendship. We're as open and inclusive as possible! We also work with corporates in a variety of ways and know from experience that they sometimes approach VCs asking for ways of providing meaningful and impactful (and measurable!) volunteering opportunities for their staff. We currently provide this to organisations that vary widely in size and location and some can be seen at the bottom of the home page of our website. Each programme in every school has a dedicated Programme Coordinator who supports our volunteers. Tutoring resources and training are provided.
