Volunteer Driver NOTTS HOSPICE

Nottinghamshire Hospice

Volunteer Drivers are an essential part of the Hospice Team as you will be responsible for collecting patients from their homes ahead of their visit to the the Wellbeing group sessions in the Nottingham community.

Requirements for the role:

• Using your own car to pick up patients and take to the Wellbeing activity session.

• You will accompany patients to and from their home and the building where the session takes place. 

• Be flexible with timings, for example, if a patient is running late or a session finishes earlier than planned

• Be sensitive to the patient’s comfort whilst in your vehicle and throughout the journey

• Be confident to discuss any queries or concerns you may have about a patient with staff

WE ARE LOOKING FOR DRIVERS ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS - FROM 9AM TO APPROXIMATELY 2PM

What skills do I need?

• Be aged between 21 and 70 years, in line with our hospice insurance cover

• Been driving for at least 3 years and have no more than 3 points on licence

• Ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy, with a valid MOT certificate and business insurance cover (proof of these documents will be required and a copy kept on file)

• Have a friendly and sensitive manner

• Have own car with 5 doors

• Have good communication skills and a cheerful personality

• Be sensitive to the needs of others (and have an awareness of boundaries)

• Be able to cope with emotional distress in a healthy manner

• Be willing to be part of a team and to be reliable and flexible

• Be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality

• Be able to use initiative
