The Helpful Bureau
One of our busiest services is our transport service, for elderly and disabled local residents without other means of transport. This often includes vital medical and hospital appointments but can also involve helping with the weekly shop or getting people to social activities, such as our very popular Thursday lunch club. Our volunteer drivers can use their own cars or choose to drive the minibus or our Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) to get our clients from A to B. It’s a lifeline for those who would otherwise be housebound.
Benefits for volunteers include new friends, the opportunity to develop skills and gain experience, increased self-confidence, and the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping your local community.
A full, clean, driving licence with appropriate insurance. People wishing to drive the WAV or minibus will need a licence that covers this.

We require people to drive both regular runs and ad hoc/one off trips, transporting our clients to various appointments and activities.
