Social Club Support Volunteer

My Sight Nottinghamshire

My Sight Notts is a charity supporting people with sight loss across Nottinghamshire with a variety of practical and emotional support services and social activities.

We run a number of social groups across the county - one of which is in Newark. My Sight Newark meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 10am to around 12.30/1pm. Lead volunteers plan a variety of activities including talks, chair based exercises, arts, crafts, day trips and much more. The group is embedded in the community and will also attend a variety of Newark community events.

The group is a fun, social and supportive environment that is often the only social contact people will have in a week. Volunteers support the group with the activities, making refreshments and welcoming speakers and other visitors to the group.

All training will be be given including sight loss awareness, first aid and food hygiene.

What skills do I need?

If you are friendly, organised and love socialising with people then we would love to hear from you! We are particularly interested in people with creative and/or gardening skills, although this is not essential.

Drivers are also most welcome! Some of our club members struggle to get to the group independently and rely on volunteers to drive them in. All expenses will be paid.

If you feel this is the role for you, please get in touch.
