Collingham Library Community Partnership Library Volunteer

Inspire Culture, Learning and Libraries

Our Community Partnership Libraries (CPLs) are run on a day to day basis by volunteers with support from a local Library Manager. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming volunteers to join our CPL teams and help make a difference in their local community.

What skills do I need?

As a CPL volunteer, every day is different! Your key tasks include:

  • Meeting and greeting library customers
  • Helping customers find the resources they want
  • Using our computer system to check out and return books
  • Contacting Ask Inspire with customer enquiries
  • Re-shelving books and keeping the library safe and tidy
  • Undertaking selected library routines like sending on rota stock
  • Assisting with library events
  • Helping to create library displays
  • Promoting the library service in the community
  • Opening and closing the library

At some of our CPLs, you might also help customers log on to computers, and handle small amounts of money for customers printing documents.

A CPL volunteer may also be a keyholder for the building, and help to create the volunteer rota.

All volunteers will be given training and go through an induction process.
